Between 29th June – 1st July, Winchester’s annual Hat Fair celebrations will commence across the city centre. In preparation for the upcoming festivities, some of our residents were invited to attend a workshop with the support of Hat Fair interns.
Our almshouse residents had the opportunity to get crafty and show some of their creative flair by making handmade flowers. The flowers will be used to decorate a free-standing, man-made orchard that will be displayed as part of the Hat Fair’s planned Village Fete. The Village Fete will be held on the lawn of our almshouses at St John’s North on 30th June 2018, 12pm – 5pm.
Fine Art graduates Charlotte and Selina hosted the event and gave our residents a master class in how to construct the tissue paper creations. Below are some of our residents’ designs, ranging from vibrant peonies to delicate roses, scallop-edged pom poms to more exotic blooms.
