We empower and support our residents and those we work with to enjoy comfort and companionship, living among friends and neighbours in a warm, friendly community in which people look out for each other, socialise and support one another.
Independence is a really important element of life at St John’s; we do all we can to support residents to live their lives as independently as they are able, with our dedicated staff on hand to help whenever needed. Our community services reflect this philosophy which encourages each individual and their carers to live an independant and fulfilled life.
We are passionate about ensuring residents and those we work with can experience real choice in their lives. Each individual should live their life as they wish, to their full potential. Whether their wish is for quiet time alone, or stimulation and activity, our holistic approach ensures we support this.
Within the Almshouses we always endeavour to support almshouse residents to remain living independently at home for as long as possible. If access and mobility at home become a concern, we will do our best to support residents to transfer internally within the charity to accommodation which may be more suitable, (this is subject to availability). Within the wider Winchester community we will endeavour to support those we work with to access the same support and resources so they can remain independent within their home. We do this by finding out what is required, by signposting and working with other providers and the local authority to meet these wishes where possible.
