St John’s resident, Terry, is one of Winchester’s most renowned poppy sellers. Each year he raises thousands for the Poppy Appeal. No matter the climate, come rain or shine, Terry can be seen regularly in the lead up to Remembrance Day out on the High Street, usually dressed in his finest.
We were pleased to catch up with him this morning for a brief interview.
When asked what he usually raises each year, Terry said: “My personal record was £5000 in 14 days! Last year, l raised just over £4000. I’m hopeful that this year we can beat my record. I have been going up to the train station every morning to meet the first train at 5:20am to sell poppies.”
Terry’s dedication to raising money for the Royal British Legion is evident and a true testament of his character. From all of us at St John’s, keep up the fantastic work!
