The charity requres:
- Shoppers to support our almshouse residents to get essential groceries and supplies.
- People to support the charity’s residents and Welfare Staff by collecting prescriptions from the local pharmacies. This will free up the Welfare Team’s time, allowing the charity to continue to support its residents and ensuring people get their medication.
- Telephone Befrienders to offer regular contact to those living in isolation. Social distancing and self-isolation can be a lonely time for all of us, but it is an issue that particularly affects older people.
We are looking for compassionate, dedicated members of the community to support one of the UK’s oldest charities. As a volunteer, you will be an integral part of the charity’s social prescribing initiative: St John’s Hand in Hand.
St John’s need volunteers who are interested in befriending and supporting older members of the local community, who are less able to get out and about in this current climate.
We understand that your time and skills are precious so there are many aspects that you can choose to get involved with. The role is flexible, varied, and now more than ever will make a real difference!
If you are a good communicator who shares our mission to empower older people to live full lives, St John’s Winchester invites you to get in touch by contacting Claire (Volunteer Co-Ordinator) via email: email@example.com
