Some people with long-term, complex health needs qualify for free social care, which is arranged and funded solely by the NHS. This is known as ‘NHS continuing healthcare’ or ‘CCG continuing healthcare’. NHS continuing healthcare funding can be provided in a variety of settings outside hospital, such as in your own home or in a care home like Moorside. You can find out more about CHC here. CCG Funded Nursing Care (abbreviated to FNC) is when the NHS pays for the dedicated nursing care element of a care home’s fees. The NHS pays a flat rate directly to the home, which goes towards the cost of nursing care. You can read more information about FNC here. The following is not included in the cost of care: As a potential new resident, your completed application form sets out both your care needs and your financial position. Once we have reviewed your application, we will then conduct a care and financial assessment based on your responses. This will involve the Home Manager arranging a visit at home or in hospital. The purpose of our visit is to make sure that Moorside can meet your individual needs, answer any queries you may have, get to know you and your relatives, and to prepare for your arrival. If the Home Manager feels that the Moorside will not be able to provide the right care for you, we will advise you of this. Our team will guide you through the process and can assist you if you have any additional questions about the assessment, visit or application. Once you have completed and submitted the Moorside application form to us, you/your loved one will be put onto our waiting list for an available room. The application form can be found here in our Documents & Forms page. Moorside is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has been rated as ‘good’ overall with an ‘outstanding’ rating regarding the home’s responsiveness and treatment of individual needs. You can read our full CQC report on our website. At St John’s
Moorside, our aim is to deliver quality care at a value you can afford. However, we do understand that circumstances can change. If your savings fall below the upper limits set out by the government, you are likely able to qualify for financial assistance. In this case you should contact your local social service department when your savings are approaching this limit, so they will know when they need to help and will be able to support you further. Our door is always open, so if you have any queries or questions, pop in to speak to the Matron and her team. You can arrange a visit to Moorside by contacting our friendly office team on 01962 854548 or by completing a request form on our website. The admissions
process is slightly different depending on if you are eligible for funding by
the local authority, or if you are a privately funding resident. For privately funded residents: please fill out an application form by downloading it here or by contacting the Moorside team directly for an informal chat with the home’s Matron, Deborah Macartney. If the home
meets your needs, we will invite you to come and view the accommodation on
offer. If we have a suitable room available, arrangements will be made for your
admission to Moorside. St John’s Moorside is a site of excellence for dementia care in Hampshire. Currently it solely provides care and support to residents living with a dementia diagnosis. We value our employees, their hard work, dedication, and want to support their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing in any way we can. We have been putting plans in place to ensure our sites and offices are COVID secure environments and compliant with recent guidelines. We want our residents, staffing teams and volunteers to be happy, confident and comfortable in their environments. Our Facilities Manager and the team are working hard to put the plans into place and are continually reviewing our procedures and processes. Around our charity sites and designated walkways, you will see signs and floor markers to support everyone to comply with social distancing of at least 2 metres. All deliveries to our office are to be accepted via the window and items are to be left outside and brought in once the delivery has been made. We have hand washing stations and hand gel dispensers by the doorways to our buildings and staff are encouraged to wear masks if they cannot socially distance, which will be an unusual occurrence. Additional cleaning and sanitisation in communal areas is also being carried out. Across the charity’s gardens and green outdoor areas, gazebos are being put up to allow for relatives to visit their family members safely from a social distance this summer. Moorside has the first gazebo and this is being rolled out currently, whilst the Almshouses’ gazebo will be erected once sourced. These are just some of the changes we have made. You can read the full details of our risk assessments and office working methods on our website: www.stjohnswinchester.co.uk/…/documents-…/covid-19-documents If you have any queries or questions about our procedures, please don’t hesitate to contact us. An almshouse is a form of accommodation offered by the charity and provided to those in the community who may be in need. Our almshouse community offers supported independent living for older people in a friendly community. Almshouses have existed in the country for centuries and we are proud to be part of The Almshouse Association, which supports 1600 independent almshouse charities nationwide. Moorside FAQs (12)
