Emirates Spinnaker Tower Abseil – 11th August 2018

29th May 2018

During the height of the British summer, a team of St John’s Winchester employees, volunteers and friends will be taking part in one of the largest single rope abseils in the UK! The abseil will take place on Saturday 11th August 2018.

Our team will be abseiling down Emirates Spinnaker Tower in aid of raising funds for Moorside, our specialist Dementia Care Home. The iconic tower boats an abseil height of approximately 100 metres… Are they ready for the challenge?!

The money that we raise will enhance our high quality of care and support through the provision of dementia-friendly activities and sensory equipment for our Care Home. The installation of such equipment as the ‘Tovertafel’ (magic table) is designed to stimulate cognitive activity and encourage physical activity in people with dementia.

QUICK FAQs!

What is a ‘Tovertafel’?

A ‘magic table’ projector – innovative technology, changing the way people suffering from Dementia connect with others. The Tovertafel box projects dynamic, interactive images and games, encouraging social interactions.

How tall is the abseil?

100 metres down!
