Her overall swim total was an outstanding 68km, the equivalent to crossing the English Channel and back. It was a truly commendable feat of endurance, determination and passion!
Charlie and her colleagues provide loving care to those living with dementia and as a result they understand their daily struggles and experiences. To this end, she determined to support Alzheimer’s Research UK in their campaign to raise funds.
On Wednesday 30th October, Charlie completed her final laps at River Park Leisure Centre in central Winchester. A minibus full of residents, along with staff, family, friends and volunteers, came along to show their support. The sight of Charlie in her vibrant swimming cap and goggles certainly caused a few giggles among the residents, who were excited to cheer her on.
Later everyone celebrated in the cosy Winchester Lounge at Moorside over coffee, tea and home baked cakes.
