We’re so proud of Charlie Manley, a care assistant at our Moorside dementia care home, for her wonderful efforts raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. She’s taken on the Swimming Down Dementia 2019 challenge and will be swimming 34 kms (the equivalent of the English Channel) in her local pool, River Park Leisure Centre, and at Snowdon. Charlie is well over half way, and has swum over 18kms so far.
Charlie, 46, has worked at Moorside since 1996 and wanted to raise money to support the people she has looked after for 23 years. She said: “I’m passionate about the people I care for, who are living with dementia, and i hope my efforts will help with the search for a cure for this terrible disease.”
Charlie’s challenge is due to finish towards the end of October. She’s planning a big splash at the end of the challenge when she hopes colleagues and friends will join her for the final 10 lengths. We’ll keep you posted on Charlie’s progress.
All sponsorship will be gratefully received. Here’s a link to Charlie’s fundraising page, thank you for your support.
