St John’s Winchester is holding two open days and is inviting local people to attend to learn more about the charity’s housing and care services for older people, as well as potential job opportunities.
On Saturday 9th September at the North Side Almshouses off The Broadway, Winchester, a Family Open Day will give people of all ages the chance to learn about almshouse accommodation, take a look around several almshouses and speak to staff and residents about life at St John’s. The event will also provide a free barbecue, live music, lawn games including croquet, boules and Connect Four, children’s lucky sweet dip and much more. The event runs from 11am until 3pm, no ticket is necessary.
On Tuesday 12th September, Moorside, the specialist dementia care home in Durngate, Winchester, is holding a Recruitment Open Day at which anyone interested in a career in dementia care is welcome to attend. Key managerial, nursing and care staff and the Activities Co-ordinator will be on hand to show visitors around and discuss the rewarding careers that Moorside can offer. Refreshments will be available throughout the event which runs from 11am until 3pm.
Moorside Matron Deborah Macartney said: “If you are interested in finding out more about working in a caring and compassionate home or would like to develop a career in dementia care, please come along to talk with our team of expert and experienced carers and professionals. We are interested in meeting carers, registered nurses, housekeepers and activity coordinators or if you are unsure what you would like to do please come along and we can guide you in your choice.”
“Moorside is growing as a home of excellence in dementia care and we want to recruit people to join our dynamic team to drive the vision forward. We offer great career progression and an attractive package including a strong commitment to learning and development. We value people who are committed to delivering high standards of care and are interested in understanding best practice in the specialist field of dementia care.”
Moorside is a home with 31 bedrooms for individuals living with dementia. It is a warm, homely and friendly environment which offers a safe and caring home where people can receive the expertise necessary for a comfortable and peaceful life. Moorside has a delightful sensory garden which gives individuals a place to relax and enjoy days gone by. A recent extension has provided additional bedrooms, and current initiatives include the design of a ‘local corner shop’ and a reminiscence garden bringing vibrancy to the beautiful home.
Due to its city centre location, parking at Moorside is limited so visitors are asked to park in Durngate Car Park which can be found directly opposite.
